As the holiday season approaches, we all are making plans for either travel or family time. We also must plan to manage buildings with fewer people on campus. I write to inform you that we will follow the schedule below during the holidays:
With the exception of the dates noted above, the campus will remain open for business during the holidays. We encourage staff to use accrued leave to spend time with friends and family; anticipate that many offices will operate with limited staff.
Last year we achieved substantial energy savings by closing several campus buildings over the holiday season. In order to conserve energy and save on heating costs, we will follow a similar strategy this year. Therefore, we will close the following buildings after 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21: Murdock Hall, Mark Hopkins Hall, Bowman Hall, Church Street Center, Venable Hall, and the Wellness Center. These buildings will reopen and return to normal temperatures on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, 2013.
Faculty and staff who work in buildings that will be closed should make arrangements
to relocate temporarily to one of the following buildings that will be open and heated
normally during this period, including Eldridge Hall, Advancement, the Campus Center,
and Freel Library. Please consult your department head for information about relocation
sites.
If you have any questions regarding this schedule or temporary relocations over the
holiday period, please contact my office at 413.662.5245.
