Peer Institutions

Colleges and Universities regularly exchange best practices, successes and challenges, and routinely learn and grow from each other. MCLA has established three groupings of institutions for comparison.

  1. Peer institutions have been selected as most like the College in enrollment (size), curriculum and degrees offered (liberal arts/baccalaureate), and geographic location (suburban/rural).
  2. Aspirational institutions are similar to peers but recognized as high achieving institutions.
  3. State institutions that are part of the State University System. The six comprehensive state universities integrate liberal arts and science programs with professional education, and the three specialized colleges also focus on academic areas identified in the college’s name.
