The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is required by federal law to produce and make available by October 1st of each year, an annual report containing campus safety, security, and fire procedures, as well as statistics related to criminal offenses and fires reported to the police and college officials for the last three consecutive years. The MCLA Department of Public Safety - Campus Police prepares and distributes this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. We work with many other campus departments and outside agencies, such as Residential Programs and Services, the Student Affairs Office, the North Adams Police, the Pittsfield Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the North Adams Fire Department to compile the information contained in it. Specifically, campus crime, arrest, and referral statistics include those reported to the MCLA Department of Public Safety - Campus Police, designated campus officials, and local law enforcement agencies noted above. Fire statistics include those reported to the MCLA Department of Public Safety - Campus Police, designated campus officials, and local fire agencies noted above.
The MCLA Department of Public Safety - Campus Police encourages all current and future members of our community to use this report as a guide for safe practices both on and off campus. Each campus community member, prospective student, and prospective employee receives a notification either through U. S. mail, campus mail, directly or via campus email that describes the report and provides locations where it can be accessed. The full text of this report can be downloaded here or paper copies are available in the department's offices located at 341 Ashland Street. You may also request a copy be mailed to you by calling our business line at (413) 662-5284.
