NORTH ADAMS, MASS. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announces artist Kamryn Dunton ’20 will be exhibiting her senior art show “A Phobia of Phobias,” at noon on Wednesday, August 7, on the third floor of Bowman Hall on the MCLA Campus.

This event is free and open to the public.

Supervised by Professor Melanie Mowinski, MCLA’s senior art project allows students to create a public exhibition of the work they have made in the MCLA studios. Dunton’s senior art project ran its course through the summer, resulting in a completely independent exhibition.  The Aug. 7 reception will celebrate this work and will feature a short artist talk at 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

About the artist:

Kamryn Dunton is a graphic designer focusing primarily in advertising and custom logo design. Her professional experience ranges from the summer crew at the Clark Art Institute to the customer service team at Market 32. She has countless abilities in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. These skills have allowed her to create designs for events such as MCLA’s Undergraduate Research Conference and the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in the Berkshires. Kamryn has an advanced understanding of the design process, as well as typographical knowledge and time management. She has managed to remain on the Dean’s List with a 3.7 GPA, while taking 18+ credits each semester, more than the average full-time course load. Kamryn is pursuing her goal of graduating early with bachelor’s degrees in both art and arts management with a concentration in design.

Dunton’s artwork creates a spectacle of her own personal experiences with and associations of paranoia. It explores the common emotions felt when dealing with paranoia, but from her own angle. Rather than using words, these artworks are her response to the processing of paranoid thoughts. For this body of work, she has ditched the computer screen and turned to mixed media.
