Through MCLA’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the IRS, Business Administration students have saved residents upwards of $250,000 in returns this year. The program offers free tax preparation services to local residents in need.
Earlier this week MCLA hosted Mark Shuldiner — a keyboardist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2013 — so that he could practice for his concerto at Staunton Music Festival. Shuldiner and his financé Molly Netter came to North Adams for her performance in the Bang on a Can Festival at MASS MoCA.
Odiase Williamson '22 has been chosen as MCLA's "29 Who Shine" Award recipient, given annually by the Massachusetts Department of Education to outstanding students from colleges across the Commonwealth.
Students at MCLA now have access to gender-affirming clothing, as needed, for free, thanks to an effort led by Jack Vezeris '23.
When artist Joshua AM Ross was interviewing MCLA students for the apprenticeship position that complemented his Fall 2021 MCLA Artist Lab Residency, he and Jeriyah Morris '22 clicked right away. Since then, the two have stayed in touch. "With no exaggeration, working with Joshua in the gallery was a life-changing experience for me," said Morris. "Joshua is not only my mentor but my friend that showed me what it's like living as a young independent artist."

As a student athlete, admissions ambassador, and double major in international business and sociology, Gomez regularly advises prospective students to get involved in campus activities, ask for help, and explore new experiences. "Take risks! Join a club you might not be interested in! Try things out," she said. "You won't lose anything."
When Andy Cambi '20 started working for the City of Pittsfield Health Department, he knew he wanted to advance in his career. With hard work, mentorship, encouragement, and an MCLA degree, he did--and is now the city's director of public health.
