About Me

I am most proud to be a wife, mother of four daughters, grandmother times three, and a great grandmother - who LOVES “glamping” in our fifth wheel RV.

My philosophy of teaching and learning is grounded in my strong belief that the purpose of education is to facilitate rich and diverse learning experiences that enhance students' formation as "responsible partners in social living" (Woodcock and Hakeem, 2015).

While instructing, I respect inclusive practices, diverse learning contextual preferences, and provide students visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic scaffolds when delivering information. I've even been known to sing!

I work hard to ground learning in an integrated approach with a balance of lecture, discussion, guided practice, guided inquiry, and deliberate strategic practice. My students are given opportunities to work in diverse classroom configurations for cooperative learning experiences that support the diverse needs of all learners. Universal design for learning principles of respecting flexible methods of presentation, multiple methods of expression of competency, and options for building stamina, engagement, and motivation are a hallmark of my instruction. Feedback is offered through peer and instructor conferencing. On-line interaction is provided through CANVAS where students are afforded assigned viewings, text submissions to assignments, and discussion forums.
