Sam Flemming, co-founder and Executive Director of 100 Gardens will present the 2022 Elizabeth and Lawrence Vadnais Environmental Issues Lecture. His presentation will start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1 in Murdock Hall Room 218.
Over the past 10 years, Fleming and the 100 Gardens team have installed aquaponic gardens across the United States and Haiti. Currently, they have aquaponics programs in 17 schools and two correctional centers, including the Berkshire County House of Corrections. In 2017, Fleming presented the 100 Gardens vision at TEDxCharlotte. Fleming also serves as the STEM advisor for the Aquaponics Association.
100 Gardens provides learning opportunities through comprehensive aquaponics programs in schools, institutions, and diverse communities. The organization is dedicated to changing the way people think about how food is grown and how that impacts the environment. Through aquaponics education, 100 Gardens’ goal is to ensure the sustainability of the human population and the earth.
