3/05/20
NORTH ADAMS, MASS.—J. Cottle ’13 and Jasmine Garcia ’16 of Dunamis Inc. will help MCLA students and alumni prepare for the next steps of their creative careers during “First Steps,” presented by MCLA’s Fine and Performing Arts Department, at 5 p.m. on April 3, 2020 in Murdock Hall Room 218.

This event is open to all MCLA students and alumni, and members of the media are welcome to come cover the event. Tickets to this event are free but limited; go to https://mcla.ticketleap.com/firststeps/ to reserve a spot.

Dunamis is a group of young arts professionals from Boston, including Garcia and Cottle, who founded the organization. They work with young arts professionals on finding work, identifying if an arts opportunity is the right opportunity, how much to charge for creative work, and other issues that young professionals often haven’t faced yet in their careers.

In this workshop the Dunamis team will explore ways to define and verbalize one’s artistry; best practices to help navigate with intention; and determining whether or not one is ready for success, and what it takes to get there.

Associate Professor of Arts Management and Chair Department of Fine & Performing Arts, Diane Scott said “We are excited for MCLA alumni to share their valuable post-graduate experience with our current students.”

Funding for “First Steps” was provided by a U.S Department of Education Strengthening Institutions Program Title III Grant.  This is event is co-sponsored by the MCLA Alumni Association.
